Who doesn’t like a good repurposing/recycling project? Here at Associated Housing Contractors, we love to keep the look and feel of New Orleans alive as best we can. When working on a job site, we like to see what we can use to enhance the space and give it that unique appeal. You never know when you will uncover a treasure that we can reuse to give a room, space or house that “something special”.
Some recent examples are these cabinet pulls that we turned into a coat rack for a client. The rack was actually made out of lath wood pulled out of a demolition project. Being from an era where little went to waste, this was old-growth pine and we couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring it out from behind the plaster and into the spotlight. With some creativity, imagination, elbow grease and tools, we transformed the once hidden lath wood into a conversation piece.
We also discovered this old barge board that was turned into a frame for use in the home. A nice combination of old and new.
There are thousands of examples online about how to reuse, repurpose and recycle. The ideas range from good to awesome to awful. While repurposing may not be right for every project, we like to incorporate it where we can. We would love to be able to incorporate some history into a construction project you may have coming up. Contact us and let’s talk about it.
